Hi and so I'm new here too. Just got back to riding after some 20 years away.. Got a Vstar 650 and its different from my last bike, an XS650Special. That was a great bike too. The new bike is like 9-10 years old but only has some 10000 miles. A few little scratches and a couple dints that I'll soom fix up. It is red in color but I think a bike should be BLACK. It will be soon. It took me a couple days to get back used to riding and getting used to the new ride but its all coming back... Has any one ever done this, take off to go somewhere for a ride and end up somewhere else just letting the ride go where ever it wants?

Welcome to the forum. Great choice of ride! Red is a very fast color, but I understand if it's too fast for you and you need to paint it black ;). I can not tell you how many times I was going somewhere and a road I passed jut looked like fun to ride so I took it. Why not? Our time on the bike is our time to be free and do what we want, might as well enjoy it. Good luck with the new bike and Ride Safe!!

Welcome from Southern Maryland. I've done plenty of rides that I ended up just going with no particular place in mind. Those seem to be the best, most relaxing type.

Yes Redstared red can be very nice but mine is an ugly shade. I do like the candy apple shade.

Welcome from Canada! I just found out yesterday that a friend is taking a solo trip down south through the States for the summer with no travel plan. Just riding...something I hope to do one day....it's just like running away from home!:)

My biggest fear was once I got on that bike that I WOULD run away from it all. Now it's my biggest HOPE!:p But have to get much better at riding first....on the other hand, riding 24/7 into the sunset would do that!:D

I do that all the time, that's the best part about owning a motorcycle... :)

Welcome, this a great site with lots of helpful folks.

Well, I posted about a year ago about the new VStar 650. Now I have a XS650 and most recently a VStar 1100 Classic Silverado. I just can't ride enough and wish there were more places to ride to.
