Hello all,

I am new to the forum and I am looking for a new bike. I currently own a 650 classic. I really like the 1100 due to it similarities to the 650. I also like the 1300, but I am short in stature and this bike feels really heavy (695 lbs). I like that the 1300 is belt driven and liquid cooled. I don't like the oil filter placement on the 650 or the 1100. Yamaha is offering $1000 cash back on the 1100 and only $500 on the 1300. Is there a reason they want to get more people to buy the 1100? Are there some big changes coming soon to the 1100? Any thoughts or opinions on these 2 bikes. Thanks!

not sure, I'm also looking at the 1300. I want the heavier bike (even though I'm only 160lbs) as we are planning some long trips in some big hills and I want the extra weight for stabability. I have a 650 custom now, and have looked at the 1100 classic. I have sat on both many times, and the 1300 seems a better fit for me. Although, I might wait longer for the $ to come down, then I can just buy it and not trade in my 650 (i freakin love my 650)

I had a 06 1100 that the crank was bad , had to do texas lemon law- well almost. Anyway went with the 1700 Road Star , we ride 2 up a lot and we have a lot of room and power . I wonder what the $$ are between the R* silverado and the tour mod. on the 1300

Went with the 1300T. Love the bike! It can seem a little heavy if I have to move it around in small tight spaces. Mainly I think because I am short 5'5" and my feet are flat on the ground with boots, but I do not have a lot of bend in the knees to help with leverage. Glad I went with the 1300 because it is an awesome bike.

I am looking at RoadStar Silverado and 1300T. I have no problem getting into small rooms (I'm 5'6"), so I'm glad to hear the 1300 fits well enough. My question would be: Is there that much more power and stability in the 1700 for long trips with two riders? Is it worth the extra money and weight?

Happy Riding,

Chazer

Hello to everyone. I just joined this group. I sure do like the Silverados. I'm thinking about buying one. My wife is tiny, about 100 lbs. I'm about 220 lbs. I lean toward the 650, though I wish it was a 750 or 800. Years ago I've owned a few 650's and love em. I think its got enough power for us. I like to ride 55 or 60 MPH. I'd like to have saddle bags, back rest for my wife and a windshild. I've never rode any of the Silverados but they sure feel good when I sit on them. Please give me your opinion as far size you feel would be best for us. I'd love for us to join a motorcycle club near us that takes trips and take some trips with them. I've got the time now. Thanks so much for your opinions. Keep the wind to your back...

i have a 1300 standard and a buddy of mine has a 1100 classic , i have rode them both and think they both are great but love the power and ride of my 1300. i'm 5' 10" and weigh 250 so the 1300 is a better fit for me , but my buddy is same height but about 100 lbs lighter and says the 1300 is too big and heavy for him. good luck.

If you think the 1300 is heavy, try riding an 83 Venture or something that weights almost 800 lbs, at less than 700 lbs the 1300T is a lightweight.........

I started out looking at the Honda Aero 750. Went back to the store twice, the 2nd time I had intentions on buying but no sales person seemed interested and I was thinking, maybe I should check the Yamaha Silverado out. The following day I trucked over to the Yamaha shop and sat on the 1100 Silverado once, then looked it over again, I'm 5'5" so I sat on it once more, it felt right at home. I tracked down a sales person and bought it. Haven't looked back at that 750 since! Plenty of power for me.
