Yamaha Releases The Bolt
Based on the V Star 950 platform, the Bolt is powered by a fuel-injected, 58-cubic-inch (942cc), air-cooled, 60-degree V-Twin mounted in an all-new double-cradle frame that uses the engine as a stressed member. When Rider strapped a V Star 950 to Jett Tuning’s dyno back in 2009, it cranked out 47.3 horsepower and 56.1 lb-ft of torque, which should propel the claimed 540-lbs-wet Bolt down the road briskly. Power reaches the rear wheel through a 5-speed transmission and belt final drive, while spent gasses exit through a blacked-out 2-into-1 exhaust.
